WHAT IS WORKPLACE PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFETY?
Psychological safety means team members feel comfortable taking risks, sharing ideas, asking questions, and admitting mistakes without fearing negative consequences. This sense of safety promotes open communication and learning, which leads to better team performance and growth.
In today’s work environment, mental health is as crucial as physical safety. At International SOS, our Workplace Psychosocial Safety Assessment (WPSA) helps identify and tackle risks to your employees’ mental wellbeing.
The WPSA offers a clear picture of potential psychosocial hazards in your organisation and provides practical recommendations to enhance safety and reduce risk. Developed by experts, it assesses various parts of your workplace to pinpoint areas for improvement.
With new workplace safety regulations, staying compliant and proactive is essential. The WPSA not only helps you meet these legal requirements but also aligns with top safety standards. By addressing stress and mental health challenges, you can create a more supportive and productive work environment.
What Work Health and Safety laws apply?
Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws aim to reduce risks to workers' physical and mental health. From 1 October 2022, new rules apply for managing psychosocial hazards in Australia.
Identifying and addressing both physical and psychological risks is key to creating a safe, healthy, and productive workplace. Employers and PCBUs (Persons Conducting a Business or Undertaking) are legally responsible for managing these risks. The Work Health and Safety Act 2011 includes psychological health in its definition of health.
Other laws—such as those covering criminal behaviour, anti-discrimination, and privacy—may also apply to issues like bullying, disability discrimination, and handling personal data.
Don’t wait for legislation to drive change. Proactively protect employee mental health and strengthen your organisation with the WPSA's gap analysis and benchmarking that helps you stay ahead of industry standards and foster a healthier, more productive workforce.
